The mini is the regional exception

Apple lists iPhone 12 mini as an eSIM model in Hong Kong and Macao. The other three iPhone 12 models sold there use two nano-SIMs. China mainland versions of this generation do not support eSIM.

Plan for one active eSIM

A supported iPhone 12 can use a physical nano-SIM with an eSIM. It cannot keep two eSIMs active simultaneously. If your home plan is already an eSIM, check your line-switching arrangement before installing the travel plan.

The mini’s size does not imply fewer SIM features than the larger models. For this question, its original market and exact A-number matter more than the screen size.

Questions about iPhone 12

Do iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max support eSIM?

Yes, outside the physical-only versions sold in China mainland, Hong Kong and Macao. Check the exact A-number when the phone was imported or refurbished.

Does iPhone 12 mini support eSIM in Hong Kong?

Yes. Apple lists iPhone 12 mini as using eSIM in Hong Kong and Macao, unlike the larger iPhone 12 models sold there. The mainland-China mini remains a physical-SIM exception.

Can iPhone 12 use two eSIMs at the same time?

No. This generation supports one active eSIM alongside a physical nano-SIM. Stored profiles and simultaneously active lines are different things.

An EID indicates eSIM hardware. It does not prove the phone is unlocked, that every provider will accept it or that a plan includes coverage at your destination. Do not send us your IMEI, EID or account details.
